Delphi – the navel of the world

Einst lies Zeus zwei Adler fliegen, einen in eine jeweils andere Richtung und dort wo sie sich trafen, sei die Mitte des Kosmos, der Mittelpunkt der Welt. Sie trafen in Delphi aufeinander. So platzierte Zeus dort den "Omphalos" ,den Nabel. An dessen Stelle steht heute ein symbolischer Stein, da das original ins Museum gestellt wurde. 
Doch bevor Delphi, Delphi hiess war es auch als "Pitho" bekannt. 
Delphi, wiederum - so wird vermutet - leitet sich vom hellenischen Wort δελφύς (delphys) ab, was "Gebärmutter" bedeutet. Ein Hinweis, dass hier zu früheren Zeiten die grosse Erdenmutter/-göttin Gaia verehrt wurde.
Bis heute schwingen hier tief Ur-weibliche Energien zusammen mit männlicher Energien. Bis heute jedoch wird nebst Apollonas, auch und vorallem die Seherin/nen namens Pythia verehrt. Es war ihre Sicht und Weisheit, welche das Geschehen einfacher Menschen bis hin zu grossen Politiker lenkte. 
Delphi war ein Ort der Zusammenkunft, ein Ort des Lernens, ein Ort des Sich-Austauschens, ein spiritueller Ort, wie auch ein kultureller Ort, ein Ort der pythischen Spiele, uvm. . Nicht umsonst fand man hier die sogenannten Delphischen Maximen, wovon der bekannteste Spruch wohl "Erkenne dich selbst" ist. 


Komm mit uns mit nach Delphi und folge den Spuren der Antike, wandle auf der "heiligen Strasse" zum Tempel des Apollona, horche dem zarten Flüstern durch Raum und Zeit der Pythia, erkenne die vibrierende Kraft der Göttin Athena, fühle die Ur-Energie der Gaia und ja "Erkenne dich selbst"! Denn Mythologie existiert nicht ohne Grund

Zeus once sent two eagles flying, one in each direction, and where they met was to be the centre of the cosmos, the centre of the world. They met in Delphi. So Zeus placed the ‘Omphalos’, the navel, there. Today, a symbolic stone stands in its place, as the original has been placed in the museum. 
But before Delphi was called Delphi, it was also known as ‘Pitho’. 
Delphi, in turn, is believed to be derived from the Hellenic word δελφύς (delphys), which means ‘womb’. This is an indication that the great earth mother/goddess Gaia was worshipped here in earlier times.

To this day, primal feminine energies resonate here alongside masculine energies. However, even today, alongside Apollo, it is above all the seeress named Pythia who is honoured. It was her vision and wisdom that guided the actions of ordinary people and great politicians alike. 
Delphi was a place of gathering, a place of learning, a place of exchange, a spiritual place, as well as a cultural place, a place of the Pythian Games, and much more. It is no coincidence that the so-called Delphic maxims were found here, the most famous of which is probably ‘Know thyself’. 

Travel with us to Delphi and follow traces of antiquity, walk along the ‘sacred road’ to the Temple of Apollo, recognise the vibrant power of the goddess Athena, listen to the gentle whisper of the Pythia through space and time, feel the primordial energy of Gaia, and indeed, ‘Know thyself’!
